Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American artist and a sitarist is best known for her music. She was first in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar, a young emerging superstar on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is a student and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. She was a young girl who travelled between London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place at New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. In the following years she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha still has a promising music and acting career, despite being young. Since a while, she regularly performs with her father. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. The stage work she has done is vast as she has been in every one of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not restricted to just music. She released Bapi the Love of My Life in 2002. This is a picture biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in movies in 2003. She acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she is an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka is continuing to advance in her professional career, and we can expect many more things to come from this talented lady. Anoushka Shakar, born in England spent a large part of her time between London Delhi. Following her move to California she completed the high school. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at age nine. After four years she performed her music debut with the sitar Delhi for her father's 70th birthday party. The father of Anoushka travelled across the world with her and she also gained a variety of opportunities. When she was still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. It is the House of Commons Shield was awarded an award from the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and is the smallest recipient of the prize.
